Organic fertilizers differ from chemicals in that they feed your plants while adding organic matter to the soil.
Many people might have used chemical fertilizer because they are cheap to buy, easy to use, and works well in the field. However most chemical fertilizers are made from non-renewable resources such as coal or natural gas. What's more, they pollute ground water -- the very water we drink -- and make our food less healthy, especially for children who are most affected by chemical residues.
When a farmer or gardener purchases a 50 lb. bag of triple 13, he or she receives 6 ½ pounds of N, 6 ½ pounds of P (up to 47% chlorine and 23% salt), 6 ½ pounds of K, and 30 ½ pounds of inert material.
When that same farmer or gardener buys a 50-pound bag of organic fertilizer, the bag will contain fifty pounds of plant and soil nutrients, essential minerals, and other elements, which enhance soil productivity and nourish soil micro-organisms.
